Diagram of a monthly minimum and a tiered percentage feeding a greater-of decision that produces the AWS Enterprise Support fee, beside a calculator and a falling bar chart.

The cost in brief

AWS Enterprise Support costs the greater of $5,000 a month or a tiered percentage of your gross monthly AWS charges: 10% up to $150,000, 7% from $150,000 to $500,000, 5% from $500,000 to $1 million and 3% above that. At $250,000 a month, you pay $22,000.

Key Takeaways

  • The fee is the greater of $5,000 or a bracketed percentage, so any month under $50,000 in AWS charges pays the minimum.
  • The effective rate falls as spend rises: 12.5% at $40,000, 8.8% at $250,000 and 6.45% at $1 million.
  • Support is always calculated on gross spend. With a Private Pricing Agreement (PPA), the fee ignores your discount entirely.
  • Whether the fee counts toward your PPA commitment depends on your agreement’s eligible-spend definition. Get it in writing.

AWS Enterprise Support is the AWS support plan that adds a designated Technical Account Manager (TAM) and a 15-minute response to critical cases. Older guides may still quote its previous $15,000 minimum. AWS cut it to $5,000 in December 2025, according to the AWS end-of-support page. The change is covered in AWS Support plans in 2026.

What is the AWS Enterprise Support formula?

Your monthly fee is whichever is greater: $5,000, or the percentage of your gross monthly AWS charges worked out in brackets. The rates come from the AWS Support pricing page.

Slice of monthly AWS chargesRate
First $150,00010%
$150,000 to $500,0007%
$500,000 to $1,000,0005%
Over $1,000,0003%

Each rate applies only to the slice of spend inside its bracket, the way income tax works. AWS describes the new plans as using “pricing tiers, which rewards higher usage with lower marginal prices” in its plan announcement.

Enter your own gross monthly AWS charges below to see the fee and how each bracket contributes.

$500,000 to $1,000,000 $0 5% $0
Over $1,000,000 $0 3% $0

Estimate only, rounded to the nearest dollar, from AWS's published Enterprise Support rates (retrieved 2026-10-07). It is not a quote. Fees are calculated on gross charges, so a PPA discount does not change the result. Check the AWS Support pricing page for current rates. Compare any quote on the same gross-spend basis, coverage and terms.

The minimum stops applying at $50,000 a month, where 10% equals $5,000.

How much will you pay at $40K, $250K and $1M a month?

You will pay $5,000, $22,000 and $64,500, which is 12.5%, 8.8% and 6.45% of spend. The three examples below use gross monthly AWS charges.

Monthly gross AWS chargesCalculationEnterprise Support feeEffective rate
$40,00010% is $4,000, below the minimum$5,00012.5%
$250,000$150,000 × 10% = $15,000, plus $100,000 × 7% = $7,000$22,0008.8%
$1,000,000$15,000, plus $350,000 × 7% = $24,500, plus $500,000 × 5% = $25,000$64,5006.45%

At $40,000 a month, the minimum applies

Ten percent of $40,000 is $4,000, which is under the floor, so you pay $5,000. Smaller spenders pay the highest effective rate because the minimum is fixed.

At $250,000 a month, two brackets apply

The first $150,000 is charged at 10%, which is $15,000. The remaining $100,000 is charged at 7%, which is $7,000. The total is $22,000.

At $1,000,000 a month, three brackets apply

The first $150,000 costs $15,000. The next $350,000, up to $500,000, costs $24,500 at 7%. The last $500,000, up to $1 million, costs $25,000 at 5%. The total is $64,500.

What counts as “monthly AWS charges”?

The fee is calculated on gross charges: the aggregate monthly AWS charges for all the accounts you have subscribed to Enterprise Support, before discounts or credits. AWS states this on its pricing page.

In practice:

  • Use gross, not net. Take the figure before discounts and credits, not the figure on the final invoice.
  • Add up the enrolled accounts. The fee covers every account subscribed to Enterprise Support, not one account at a time.
  • Use the month’s actual charges. The fee moves with each month’s usage. Check the AWS page for the exact wording.

Does a PPA discount lower your support fee?

No. Enterprise Support is always calculated on gross spend, so a PPA discount does not reduce it. A PPA, formerly the Enterprise Discount Program (EDP), is a committed-spend discount you negotiate with AWS. The negotiated rate lowers what you pay for usage, and the support fee stays where the gross figure puts it.

Why the gross basis matters

The example below is hypothetical, and no discount figure is given. PPA terms are confidential and vary by customer.

Suppose your gross AWS charges are $250,000 in a month and your PPA discounts your usage. You are billed less than $250,000 for usage, but the support fee is still $22,000, because it is calculated on the $250,000. Working it out from the discounted figure would give a lower number, and that is the mistake to avoid when you budget.

AWS says this on its Support pricing page. It is why support needs its own review, separate from the discount you negotiate. The PPA negotiation guide covers it with commitment sizing and term length.

Does support count toward your PPA commitment?

It depends on your agreement. In ASCENDING’s understanding, the support fee counts toward the PPA commitment burn-down, so it is spend that draws the commitment down, not a cost entirely on top of it. AWS does not publish PPA terms, and advisory sources describe the eligible-spend definition as a negotiated term that varies by contract.

So treat it as a question for your AWS account team:

  1. Ask whether Enterprise Support fees count toward commitment retirement.
  2. Ask for the answer in writing, in the eligible-spend definition.
  3. Include the answer when you size the commitment.

If support counts, the commitment model should include it. If it doesn’t, the support line is extra cost on top of the commitment, and you should budget for it that way. Whether the same applies when a partner delivers the support is also a contract question, so ask before you assume.

Enterprise Support is mandatory in a cross-service PPA

In ASCENDING’s reading of AWS’s terms, Enterprise Support is mandatory as part of an AWS cross-service PPA. Confirm the clause with your AWS account team. Only AWS or an authorized AWS partner can provide support that satisfies the requirement. That makes the question “who provides it, and at what price”, which the partner-led comparison covers.

How does Enterprise Support compare with other plans at the same spend?

At the same spend, Business Support+ costs less but has no designated Technical Account Manager, and Unified Operations costs more. Enterprise Support includes the designated TAM, along with the other items listed on the AWS Enterprise Support page. The table applies each plan’s published rates to the same gross monthly charges.

Monthly gross AWS chargesBusiness Support+ (one account)Enterprise SupportUnified Operations
$40,000$3,000$5,000$50,000 (minimum)
$250,000$14,300$22,000$50,000 (minimum)
$1,000,000$36,800$64,500$100,000

Business Support+ is billed per account at 9% up to $10,000, 7% to $80,000, 5% to $250,000 and 3% above, so the column assumes all spend sits in one account. A real multi-account bill will differ. Unified Operations is 10% up to $1 million with a $50,000 minimum.

The price gap buys different things. For features, the 2027-01-01 end of the older plans and who each plan fits, see AWS Support plans in 2026.

How can you pay less for Enterprise Support?

Confirm that you need each enrolled account, check that the plan fits each workload, and compare a partner quote on the same basis.

  • Review what is enrolled. The fee covers accounts subscribed to Enterprise Support. Check with AWS how your enrolment is set up before you change anything.
  • Compare partner quotes like for like. An authorized partner can deliver partner-led support at its own rate. Compare the same gross-spend basis, coverage hours, response times and tools, using the worksheet in AWS Partner-Led Support vs AWS Enterprise Support.
  • If you hold a PPA, keep the requirement met. Partner-led support from an authorized partner satisfies the Enterprise Support requirement while your PPA stays in place.

For an estimate on your own spend, see the AWS Partner-Led Enterprise Support page.

What should you do next?

  1. Pull last month’s gross AWS charges for every account on Enterprise Support.
  2. Enter it in the calculator above and compare the result with your invoice.
  3. If you hold or are negotiating a PPA, ask your AWS account team whether support counts toward the commitment, and who may provide it.

FAQ — AWS Enterprise Support Cost Questions

What is the minimum cost of AWS Enterprise Support?

$5,000 a month, down from $15,000. You pay the minimum whenever 10% of your gross monthly AWS charges is below it, which is any month under $50,000. See the AWS Support pricing page and the 2026 plan changes.

Is the percentage applied to all my spend or in brackets?

In brackets. Each rate applies only to the slice of monthly charges inside its bracket: 10% up to $150,000, 7% from $150,000 to $500,000, 5% from $500,000 to $1 million and 3% above that. At $250,000 a month that is $15,000 plus $7,000, or $22,000.

Does my PPA discount reduce the Enterprise Support fee?

No. AWS calculates the fee on gross monthly charges, before any discounts or credits, so a discount on your usage does not lower your support fee. See the PPA negotiation guide.

Does the support fee count toward my PPA commitment?

It depends on the eligible-spend definition in your agreement. ASCENDING's understanding is that support fees draw down the commitment, but AWS does not publish PPA terms, so ask your AWS account team to confirm it in writing before you size the commitment.

Can an AWS partner provide Enterprise Support for less?

Yes, through authorized partner-led support, which also satisfies the Enterprise Support requirement in a cross-service PPA. Partner offers differ in price, coverage and terms, so compare them like for like. See AWS Partner-Led Support vs AWS Enterprise Support.
